How to photograph
your drawing
We give you a few good tips for taking the best photo of your drawing with any smartphone.
natural light
First of all, never use flash!
If possible, always take the photo outside, but avoid direct sunlight as it can be too bright and harsh. If you are inside, find a window without direct sunlight and you get the best result by placing the drawing parallel to the window.
artificial light
If you struggle to find natural light, then the more white light you can find, the better, think neon lights instead of candles and lamps with warm white/yellow-ish cosy lighting. In order to get an even look on your photo and avoid shadows, you should always have artificial lights from two sides, one on the left and one on the right side.
find the right angle
Be careful when you take the photo, how you hold your phone. It should be directly above the drawing for the best result, otherwise you risk making the photo crocked. Usually your phone guides you to the right angle with two crosses you have to align.
High resolution
Before you take the photo, make sure that your camera is set to the highest resolution and be careful not to reduce the size before uploading the photo. We can always reduce the size, but making it bigger is often impossible. You should upload your photo in jpeg format.
